Rocker Chic?
I wonder, can I channel that rocker chic look? It's seriously so not me, but I'd have loved to experiment with the look :) Would this bag fit the look though?
Rebecca Minkoff Small Quilt and Stud Large Racy Clutch
Nice size! |
I like the bag, but I don't fancy that zippered pocket with tassel so much. I think it would have been better if the front part of the bag didn't have any "breaks" like that zipper. If the pocket were in the back, then it would have been better. But nice size though! Priced at US $450 at SHOPBOP.
Happy Halloween and Happy Shopping, folks :)

Filipino Designer Feat: Chito Vijandre
I've always known Chito as half of the dynamic duo behind Firma and AC+632 (they are artists, and are the best curators, I swear). I obviously don't know my Philippine fashion history well. Because some 20 years ago, Chito Vijandre used to design clothes! So when I found out that he was showing a 6- piece collection for SLim's during Philippine Fashion Week (along with Dubai- based Filipino designer Michael Cinco), I had to go see it.
I was very, very impressed. I'm all for theatrics and drama, and Chito definitely delivered. The fabrics he worked with are so rich (I was told, vintage), and the silhouettes and construction are remarkable.
Let these pictures speak for Chito's work. All I know is this, I am going to start convincing him to make something for me *though I doubt I'll be successful haha* :D
I looove the skirt!! |
The skirt! |
The collection was styled so well. And wow, I was really bowled over by the accessories and their pairing with the rich fabrics. Flawless execution!!
Dramatic! |
The gecko! |
WOW.
Brilliant!! |
Rich!!! |
The final walkthrough. I wished Chito produced more than 6 pieces! It was really quite the visual feast. Chito's really brilliant.
Chito Vijandre takes a bow
Congratulations, Chito! You're really, really a brilliant artist!!x

Filipino Designer Feat: Michael Cinco
I first saw Dubai- based Philippine designer Michael Cinco's collection at the RED ball a week ago. I didn't bring my big camera with me then, but he showed his collection a second time and luckily I made it to the show in time (like 2 minutes before it started).
I'm sharing a few of my favorite images from the show. I couldn't help but feel a McQueen vibe to the collection but I have to say hands- down, Cinco's pieces were very well- made *I love the details*. I managed to go backstage post- show to "inspect" and touch some of his clothes up close and the details were impressive.
This gown took approximately 3 months to make. All by hand. |
Taking flight!
This has to be my favorite |
Pleats please!
I'm fascinated with how Cinco manages to put together details on his dresses and gowns
So beautiful in person. I'd really love this as a short dress! *Serious want*
Folds, tucks, ruching
This model "owned" this dress. It looked great on her.
She wore it so well! |
The bride...
Voluminous drama |
I like the details on the bodice |
The red "tattoo" dress worn by "of- the- moment" Philippine actress AnneC.
Anne is beautiful |
I wished the dress fit her much better, and she should've worn her hair up to show the intricate details on the collarbone/ shoulder area of the dress. This piece was originally worn by another model at the Red ball and it looked sooooooo good.
For the finale, "rain" poured down the center of the catwalk. *Cue music: It's Raining Men* lol ;)
And from last night's at SLim's,
Into the sunset! |
Designer Michael Cinco takes his bow. He himself put on a great show-- he "performed" as well :) Love that he sashayed down the catwalk like a model :)
And backstage, here are the details, up close.
The first dress on this post. It's all paillettes!!! |
So many elements on the dress, and Cinco made it work! |
Another shot of the scrollwork paillettes |
And the back of the red gown that Anne wore |
How did you like the collection? I was impressed with the technique and the details on the pieces I featured. Glad to have seen everything up close-- it made a big difference! Thank you Ariel Lozada and Joey Espino. And yes, I'm definitely lining up to get a dress made by Cinco *if he can accommodate me, please!* ;)

Bag Review: Good Deal on a Leather Shopping Tote!
We all love shopping totes. And because of those beautifully simple Celine shopping totes (which were a little too pricey, unfortunately), I hankered for a nice leather tote which had that "lovingly used" look.
And I found it on Madewell. The best thing about this tote is the price-- at US $148!! :)
Madewell Leather Transport Tote
Those above are two of my favorite colors (out of 4-- one is black and the other is olive green). I especially love the "raw" and rugged look of the leather body of the bag. It's really very no- nonsense and looks like the perfect everyday tote. You don't have to worry about the bag getting scratched up. In fact, the more scratched up this bag looks, the more character it gets!
I highly recommend this tote since it's really not often you find good totes at this price. Two thumbs up on this bag :)

AC +632 and Wynn Wynn Ong
I had been feeling a bit under the weather lately, but I had to attend and show my support for the event/ exhibit mounted by Ricky and Chito, the dynamic duo behind AC+632, for designer/ artist Wynn Wynn Ong.
I've had the pleasure of having dinner with Ricky, Chito, Gemma, Wynn Wynn Ong, and ace photographer (and my mentor haha) Patrick Uy and wife Evelyn some years eons ago and it was one of those nights that I never forgot. Ricky and Chito are perhaps the best visual merchandisers/curators in town, and each time I pay their shop a visit, I walk out with something!
So when I was reminded about the Wynn Wynn Ong event, I couldn't not go. I have very high regard for this jewellery designer because what she creates is original and is really something she can call her own. She is a true artist and has evolved to become a home accessories designer as well.
Wynn Wynn's jewellery
She had designed bags with exotic leather before and now she created this "seafan coral" minaudiere made with composite recyclable materials! Wynn Wynn has gone "green" and decorated the minaudiere with exquisite clasps like this!
Wynn Wynn's furniture
WOW. I love this piece though I did wish the "feet" were more "solid" |
On top of a bureau drawer :) |
I really like this piece!!! |
Trays made of ebony with the same geckos set with stones
A jewellery box. With a pearl studded caterpillar and a shell on the other end
A beetle with smoky quartz on the handles of one of the decorative trays
One of my favorites, a peacock with labradorites on a jewellery box
And a photo recap of those who were at the event:

I'm so pleased to see Wynn Wynn Ong's collection. You peeps should be popping over AC +632 (Greenbelt 5) in the next few days to see some of her jewellery (and the gorgeous minaudieres) up close. And yes, ask to try them on too! :)
