PFW: Sonia Rykiel SS 2012 On the Yellow Road

Not exactly in the city center is the venue for the Sonia Rykiel SS 2012 show. The sunny yellow paint that ran down the center of the catwalk could mean that this collection was to be heavy on the color yellow... And right we are somewhat-- for yellow pieces really dominated the collection.

First Look: Such an interesting contrast with that band of black against the yellow shirt.

An interesting concept of the snap button shopping bag

Now this bag I like-- it's very sporty chic and functional!

The same shopping tote, in a smaller size and folded over to be used as a clutch

Dropped waist silhouette

Did I read this right? On the skirt part of the cutout dress, read the word "Divine".

I like this print on the shirt, and the herringbone pants complemented the top quite nicely. And the bag was perfect for the ensemble.

I'm so happy to see prints!!

This is really such a beautiful print. I would've actually wanted to see more of this print!

The whole collection had a lot of yellows, neutral colored knits, bright tulip prints, as well as solid taffeta tops. It was a very safe and wearable collection that would work nicely for everyday affairs-- there was a nice flow to the collection from neutrals to more bold colors and prints. There was really something for everyone, without a doubt.

And yes, we were in a warehouse and it was a big venue. The team of Nathalie Rykiel and creative director April Crichton really made use of the space at Halle Freyssinet. Here's the final walkthrough:

Sorry I have been a wee bit delinquent on the posts. I'm suffering from a terrible jet lag and all I want to do is sleep :( Will catch up on more show posts-- there are still the following: Roberto Cavalli, Guy Laroche, Eli Saab, as well as a number of super important presentations from bag and shoe brands (now those, you really don't want to miss!)
