MFW: Tod's is LOVE *SS 2012*

Woohoo! It's officially October in Asia as this post is published! What better way to start the month than to write about bags again? :)

If you've been reading this blog, you'd have already known about my love for the Tod's bag collection-- in particular, the Tod's D bag. My Tod's signature orange bag has been with me on several trips and it's doing incredibly well and aging quite nicely. I decided against cleaning her up, allowing her to age and acquire that patina naturally. And I am loving the bag more and more with each day that I use her.

Today, wearing cobalt blue with the Tod's D bag
Anyway, the Tod's team really knows how to pick a place for their Spring/Summer 2012 presentation-- it was again held at Villa Necchi Campiglio in Milano *Villa Necchi was used for the film "I am Love, which starred Tilda Swinton, among other more important historical facts of the villa*. The romance of this villa set the tone for the Spring Summer 2012 collection.

We saw a lot of color! And I am really liking it so much! (Can you tell yet that I really love color?)

How can you not fall in LOOOVE with this lagoon- colored crocodile D bag????
The softest, most supple, and almost suede- like texture of this croc D bag is fantastic!!!

In purple!
this is really the softest crocodile bag I've ever touched, seriously

Shocking colors in python-- bright yellow and hot pink. Oh ladies, you will want this bag just as I do once you see either in person!

A new crocodile bag. This is so luxurious. I love the structure of the bag, it gives it that formal edge, and how very considerate to add that detachable shoulder strap!

Hello there, another bag in that beautiful lagoon blue color. Major plus factor: the bag's in python!

This is a bag I can't wait to get. It's compact without being too small for your things, and the colors on this are beautiful. PS you can't go wrong with python!

A new Tod's tote in python. The fringes that run down the center make for a fun and flirty tote :)

Concept D Bags: These bags are not in production for retail consumption. These are the "one- offs" which could serve as inspiration for future designs. I'm loving the colors of this one-- I think this would make a fantastic bag for a fashion editorial!

Especially loving this one! It'll be a tad heavy with the chains, but for a bag this embellished? I would still want to carry it! It's really beyond amazing!!

And these are the best shoes, detail- wise *and comfort- wise too of course*

very tight beads that somehow remind me of python skin. Doesn't it? :)

Woven threads on the ballerina flats
This shoe looks even better up close! I like these because they don't have that average ballerina flat look

Bead-dazzled!

Now THIS I love! I am reminded of those very ornate brocade-beaded loafers for lounging around wherever! :)  This is the all- purpose shoe... for all seasons!!

I am still on a visual high each time I review these photos I took from the Tod's presentation in Milano. And now I'm glad I am able to share these with you. Do you have a favorite yet? :)

The Tod's D bags and other merchandise will be available come Spring/ Summer next year. Start saving up for one-- I promise you, it's really worth the price!! The brand never compromises when it comes to quality and this is definitely an investment piece worth having!!

PFW: Roland Mouret SS 2012 ... Oh the Dresses!

One word: EMBARRASSING!!!

I was seated at the mouth/ foot of the runway where the models enter/ exit the catwalk. So the whole show was uneventful, but when it was time for the final walkthrough, I reached down for my bag (which was on the floor) to get my iPhone to record this video below for you all, and guess what, the glass filter of my camera popped right out of the camera and rolled onto the runway!!!

OMG. I was tinkering with the glass filter a few minutes before the show began because I couldn't decide then if I should keep filter on or off since I forgot to bring that soft cloth to clean the fingerprints and smudges. I obviously wasn't able to remove it entirely as the show had begun almost too soon-- around the same time I was deciding if it was to stay on or off.

Disaster was averted because the glass filter didn't really roll off too far from my foot *it was on the runway though!!!* and I was able to swiftly pick it up before the models came right out, but still, it was a serious OH.MY.GAWD moment!!

Hope you enjoy this video-- taken seconds after my mini disaster happened. Didn't realize that I covered the microphone too, so pardon the muffled music. That said, check out the dresses. They're beautiful!

MFW: Etro SS 2012 Print Mania!

Etro is not Etro without the prints. But one thing is to be noted here-- I did not see any of the signature Paisley print of Etro. Where did that go? Or did I actually miss it??

I really like how this printed dress was sealed with that special "pleated| skirt trim!

Beautiful dégradé  of colors

Prints, colors, crystals!

The placing of prints on a garment matter so much. This dress is not overpowering and is beautifully simple.

Dancing fringes on a jacket. Fun and flirty for Spring!

Hmm... reminded me of the Gucci SS 2012 "Chrysler Building" dress. Nicely reinterpreted though.

Beautiful mix of colors on this jacket!

Now tell me, which one's your favorite piece? Mine has to be the fringed jacket, hands down :)

MFW: Versace SS 2012, A Sea of Beauty!

Today was my first official day in Paris and wow I am actually energized! I actually gave serious thought to going to a party last night but had whatever good health sense in me to say no and choose sleep. So yes, today, I woke up feeling spic and span new, after having slept over 10 hours *10 hours of sleep is a MAJOR luxury I normally can't afford!*.

Unfortunately though, I ended up missing one show this morning, but the good news is I made it to my first official show, Guy Laroche after rushing like crazy and getting antsy inside the taxi because the traffic was just as usual, bad!

Anyway let me take this opportunity now to show some of my favorite images from Versace since I realized I only uploaded a video for you then and not show the detailed photos!

The inspiration? The Sea!

So rockin' the seahorse studded skirt!

I really love the cut of those shorts!

Beautiful prints! This is what Versace is really known for when I first got to know the brand.

Beautiful printed ensemble!

The studded waistband is really a nice addition

Seashells against the signature Greek keys chain strap

The Versace look

Lime green pleats with a lavender studded bag. Nice play on these colors!

Yellow, so warm and so rich! Loving the mixed textures of the dress-- the placing of the studs and of micro pleats makes this a winner!

And then there were the gorgeous red carpet looks:

The details on this gown are remarkable!

I like this-- I'd wear it in a heartbeat :)

Donatella's piece de resistance:

And the designer takes her bow to an audience who gave her a thunderous applause for the collection!

Gosh you guys have no idea how hard it is to edit and select photos for the blog, so for sure you will see a few more posts on Milan Fashion Week which will contain a few more *ok a lot more* of my favorite images, including photos of friends and industry colleagues with whom I'm just so happy to be reunited :)

MFW: Dolce and Gabbana SS 2012: An Italian Celebration!

The Dolce & Gabbana Spring Summer 2012 paid homage to my favorite country, Italia! The first thing I saw backstage was the pasta charms on the bag I zeroed in on, and I knew that it was without a doubt going to be fun collection that will leave many wanting more. I was right. When the models began parading the produce prints, I was so giddy with excitement, doing mental notes on which prints and styles I'd like to have. An Italian food fest is what I was treated to-- and everyone around me was raving about the produce prints even while the show was ongoing!

Eggplants!

Zucchini. One of my favorite vegetables, and now one of my favorite prints from Dolce & Gabbana

Pumpkins in motion
The clothes move sooo beautifully

This is really a huuuuge favorite! With the bag, this is my "Red Hot Chili Pasta" look :) Super love!!

Moving onto more intricate details, the flowers

Incredible details!

A metallic blue pvc weave "picnic" bag! How very appropriate! :)

And if you want to take it a few luxe levels higher, Dolce & Gabbana will only continue to impress-- bring on the bling!!

Detailed corset decorated with colorful crystals! Remember the detailed shot I took while backstage? This was it!

And the pinup girls took to the stage once again in different colored/ textured corsets, the signature Dolce & Gabbana look!

Bravo, Domenico and Stefano!!! You know how to give us all La Dolce Vita!

P.S. I want that pasta bag! I can't wait to see it on LUISAVIAROMA!
